KOK-star Rollier’s "huge mistake”
- I went to Naerlop at Steinsland with high expectations. Unfortunately my technique was still a little bit rusty today..., he writes for fun in his blog.
* Before you read any further take a look at
Rollier’s route choice (klick the map).
- What really happened?
- The terrain was really nice. And I thought this was a good training for World Championships in Trondheim next year. When I was in front of the little lake I decided to run straight north. After 12 minutes I reached the edge of the plateau. I wanted to stay on the plateau and keep running in the marshy area, so I therefore ran 10 minutes straight east, 5 minutes north and 5 minutes west, before I returned to the map and my course.
- Did you ran with an extra map?
- No, my “big mistake” was without any map, so it was a little bit risky, Rollier says.
Last year Baptiste Rollier became bronze medalist in the relay at the World Championships with his team-mates from Switzerland. He also won 10Mila with mates from Kristiansand OK, just like he even did some weeks ago.
- Have you ever make any huge mistake for real?
- Yes, actually here in Norway. My first trip to Scandinavia was to Modum O-camp back in 1997, when I was 15 years old. I should go alone in another marshy area, and I was totally lost, Rollier remember.
This weekend Rollier is at a training camp in Oslo, and Saturday he are going to participate at the great event Østfold O-weekend. His main target later this season is of course World Championships in Hungary – and hopefully Baptiste Rollier does not make any “mistakes” like he did last Wednesday at WOC 2009...
